From big life decisions to 4-way stops, trusting that you know what’s right and God knows what’s best is sometimes scary

🚗 Send Help I Have a Teen Driver
Y’all I have a teen driver in my house. Those of you who have been there know the fear that comes with that. She is also graduating in a few weeks and heading to college out of state. Momma is a giant ball of nerves.
She likes every detail planned in advance and is still somehow the most indecisive person I have raised. Small suggestions like ” let’s look at summer jobs” or “have you picked a dorm room yet?” turn into a torrent of questions.
- How will I get to work if my car is down?
- What about food in the dorm?
- What if my roommate is awful?
- Why cannot it all be figured out already?
Now cue driving lesson and the four way stop. Let’s face it, most grown ups don’t know how to use those four stop signs correctly, and I watch as my brilliant girl got completely overwhelmed and confused wondering who goes next, not wanting to move because she didn’t want to get hit, and wanting to wait for everyone else to go first, never mind the traffic piling up behind and around her.
It took a minute and finally she slowly crept out into the intersection. I’m sure every other driver was beyond annoyed with her. But she did it. She moved forward. Yes slowly, but she did it.
🏃♀️ Moving vs. Knowing
As adults we get stuck in those same moments:
- What if I take this new job and it is worse than the one I have?
- I feel like God is calling me somewhere, but I cannot make the numbers work.
- What if I make the wrong decision?
We want the full plan. The backup plan. And ideally, a five-year projection with guaranteed outcomes.
Faith is not about having all the answers. Moving in God’s plan is about taking the step God calls you to even when you do not understand the whole picture. Abraham left everything familiar. No roadmap. No guarantees. Just a promise that God would guide the way. He obeyed and stepped into the unknown.
Trusting God has the answer is about continuing to trust when the ground feels shaky. Peter stepped onto the water. He moved in faith. But when he looked at the waves and the wind instead of Jesus, doubt crept in and he began to sink. Faith does not fail because you move. Faith fails when you stop trusting.
God told Abraham to leave the only home he’s known…And he did it.
In Genesis 12:1-9 And here’s what gets me every time… God did not hand him a detailed plan. There was no map. No timeline. No “here’s how this is all going to make sense later.” God simply said, go to the land I will show you. Not even “here’s where you’re going.” Just… go.
Abraham had to walk away from what he knew without knowing where he would land. He had to trust a promise that, in that moment, he could not see any evidence of. No children. No proof. Just God’s word.
And still… he went.
He packed up his life, gathered his family, and started walking. Step by step. Day by day. Not because he had all the answers, but because he trusted the One who did.
And that first step? That act of obedience when nothing was certain? That is what set everything in motion. That is what began the fulfillment of God’s plan.
Not clarity. Not certainty.
Just obedience.
💡 The Truth We Keep Forgetting
Faith does not mean having everything figured out before you move. Faith means step. Trust. Repeat.
God does not ask for perfection. He asks for obedience and trust in the steps He gives you.
🧡 He Does Not Leave Things Half Done
God will work out the details in His timing. Not all at once, not always as quickly as we would like, but always with purpose. Your next step does not have to solve everything or answer every question that’s keeping you up at night. It just has to be the step He’s placed in front of you right now.
He asks that you take it prayerfully, stay rooted in His Word, and keep moving forward even when the path feels uncertain. Trust is built in those small, steady steps of obedience.
Because Philippians 1:6 is a promise you can hold onto. God does not start something in your life and leave it unfinished. He is faithful to carry it through, to work in the details you cannot see, and to bring it to completion in His perfect time.
🙏 Guided Prayer
Lord help me take the next step You are calling me to without needing to understand everything. Give me the courage of Abraham to leave my comfort zone and obey even when the path is scary. Remove the weight of guilt and comparison and remind me that You are already at work in every detail I cannot see. Thank You for Your faithfulness and grace. Amen.

- Identify Your Next Step – Write down the one action God is asking you to take today, even if the outcome is unclear.
- Pray Through It – Commit that step to God, asking Him to guide the outcome.
- Release Comparison – Write down one area where you are measuring yourself against others and surrender it to God.
- Keep Moving Forward – Take consistent, prayerful steps. Even small ones show faith and obedience.
